Connecting a Teltonika FMB920 / FMC920

Set the server, port and APN with three SMS messages. The FMB920 runs on 2G, the FMC920 on 4G (LTE Cat 1).

What you need

  • The Teltonika device installed and powered (GPS and network lights blinking)
  • A data SIM card without a PIN inserted in the device
  • The SIM phone number and the device IMEI (on the label, 15 digits)
  • The device added in the panel with this IMEI
  • Your operator's APN (see the article APN settings for Albanian operators)

Every command starts with two spaces. That applies when the device has no SMS username and password (factory setting). If you set them, type username password setparam ...

Steps

  1. Set the APN

Send by SMS to the SIM card number:

      setparam 2001:internet

Replace internet with your operator's APN. If the operator needs a username and password, also use 2002 and 2003.

  2. Set the server
      setparam 2004:track.appalbania.com

  3. Set the port and protocol
      setparam 2005:5027;2006:0

    2006:0 means TCP.

  4. Wait for the reply

The device replies with New value for each parameter. A few seconds later it connects to the server.

Verify

  • Send getstatus and the device replies with its connection state (Data Link: 1 means it is connected to the server).
  • Send getgps to check GPS reception.
  • Within a few minutes the vehicle appears on the Live map.

Verify: parameter IDs (2001 APN, 2004 server, 2005 port, 2006 protocol) follow the Teltonika FMB/FMC documentation. For very old firmware check wiki.teltonika-gps.com or use Teltonika Configurator over USB.
